Here is the latest time lapse video from the most recent Photography 102 class. It is a brief video, but provides some quick insight onto what to expect from the photography class. Lots hands on training in this class makes all of the information easier to retain for when after the class you are going out and shooting. Add Comment Kathryn Smith Headshots San Diego 03/30/2011
Kathryn has a wonderful boyfriend. Her boyfriend called me about a month ago looking to give a headshot session to Kathryn as a gift. I put together a nice certificate for him to give to her on the special day and had Kathryn call me at her convenience to setup an appointment. When I met Kathryn she had come fully prepared for the shoot after reading my headshot preparation guide I give all my clients prior to a shoot. After having a consultation with Kathryn I learned that she is an aspiring actress and wants to see where acting can take her, We started off with shooting headshots with natural light through the windows in the studio. Once she was feeling confident in front of the camera we did some outfit changes, mixed up the shots and poses and ended up having a lot of fun. Below are few of the final images. Brigitt Reddy Headshots 03/28/2011
This past week I had the pleasure of working with Brigitt Reddy, a 13 year-old aspiring actress. Before the shoot began I got to know Brigitt and what her hobbies were and I was astonished at how active and productive she is for her age. She absolutely loves horse back riding and even has her own youtube channel for horseback riding. Typically when i have worked with teenagers or children it is very difficult to break them out of their shell and to open up in front of the camera, but Brigitt was an exception to the rule. Within minutes she was a total natural posing for her headshots and portraits. It certainly helped having the natural daylight at the new photography studio in downtown San Diego. Using natural daylight in most of her shots allowed for us to get a variety of shots in such a short period of time. Below are just a few of the headshots and portraits we took that day. This is the latest video from the San Diego Photography Classes, more specifically it is from the Taking Better Photos Outdoors Class that I teach out in Presidio Park. In the video I used my Intervalometer feature in my Nikon D7000 to capture an image every 5 seconds and then turned all 1,444 photos from the 3 hour class into about less than a minute of footage. I apologize for the poor quality. The timelapse to video conversion is not the best. Regardless it should give an idea of the class and some of the photos taken by the students. Quick Timelapse Video of New Studio Setup 03/07/2011
This is a quick video put together using the Nikon D7000 intervalometer taking a 1700 photos, 1 every 5 seconds. The video is of me setting up my new space in San Diego's Best Photography Studio, also known as Kettner Daylight Studio in Little Italy. The video is only capturing my office and not the entire studio. I just want to say that so people don't get confused and think that's all there is. But check out the video and if you want to know know more about time lapse video and intervalometers please let me know. Photography 101 - October 16th 11/13/2010

Photography 102: Understanding Your Camera 10/16/2010
Photography 102 is my favorite class to teach for the San Diego Photography Classes. People from all over San Diego County attend and are passionate to learn more about their DSLR cameras and how to better manipulate the settings to get the photos they desire. NO MORE AUTO MODE! This is what I say to everyone that attends because after the class they will never have to use auto mode. They will walk away from the class feeling comfortable with their camera and learn how to tell their camera what to do rather than the other way around. Here is a photo of the graduating class of Photography 102 October 16th, 2010. Monte Carlo - Aztec Nights SDSU 09/09/2010
The Monte Carlo event was another great success for SDSU in efforts to engage the new freshman and students. There were several different activities ranging from gaming tables to go kart racing. This gave the student plenty of variety for keeping themselves entertained with their friends. THere was also free food and raffles going on during the event which the students loved. Below are some pictures from the event. Campus Carnival - Aztec Nights SDSU 09/02/2010
The Campus Carnival Event at SDSU was a crazy event to shoot. There was probably close to a thousand people and students in attendance riding all of the ride and embarking in all of the activities. Dozens of student organizations were in attendance supporting the event by having various booths with activities for the new freshman to play and learn from. It was great to be shooting this event because everyone was having such a good time it was hard not to capture a good shot.
