At least one of them. We just received a letter from Google's headquarters notifying us that we were selected as a "Favorite Place on Google." The San Diego Photography Classes and our studio/office has been seen by thousands of people searching on Google and has had favorable responses from visitors. This is how Google determines their selection. They base it on relevance of the content on the websites, where they are located, how many people search for the business, and how many people interact with the Google Local Listing.

We are really excited about this honor and are offering a 10% discount to throughout the month of December. If you book your event in the month of December we will offer you a 10% discount.

This past week we worked with the US Navy at the U.S. Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego. The U.S.S. Lake Champlain was having a holiday party at the U.S. Grant to celebrate their service to this country and to give thanks for this time of year. We were honored to have been selected as their photography service provider. Our photography, Jason Kirby, set up a booth for friends and couples to have their photo taken during the event so they could document the night.

The event was a lot of fun and it was certain that the guests were having tons of fun. I want to thank Alex, the man in charge of organizing the event for being a terrific host. It was a wonderful experience and everyone in attendance was pleasant to work with and it was a great night all around.

Saturday was the last class of the month, Headshot & Portrait Photography Class. We had 8 people come out and learn the many different techniques when taking headshots and portraits outdoors. We spent the morning at Presidio Park and spent the first hour and a half covering the basics of headshot photography and what to be aware of when dealing with the sun outdoors. Then we had 2 models arrive and pose for the photographers in training to learn and have hands on activities. My way of teaching is not to stand and lecture all day, but cover the basics and allow for everyone to get real experience and feedback on the pictures they take of the models.

Based on the evaluations I received at the end the class was a huge success and everyone had a good time, even the models were really excited to work with everyone.

Last week was the grand opening of the newest edition to the iTan Solariums chain. The new store opened up in Mission Valley next door to BevMo and Coffee Bean. The Right Light Photography was there to offer our event photography services to capture the party as well as all of the new tanning and spa equipment they offer at the saloon. It was brought to our attention that this saloon is the largest tanning facility south of Hollywood and is expected to be one of the most successful in San Diego.

We were excited to be at the event and photograph the guests in attendance enjoying their free food and free tanning that night. We want to congratulate the owners of iTan and wish them the best of luck with the new location.

Saturday was a huge success with our 3rd ever Photography 102 class. With 9 eager photographers in training ready to learn it turned out to be a fun and education event that benefited everyone in attendance, even Jason Kirby, the instructor. We just want to say thanks to Jessica, Tess, Andrew, Raymond, and the rest of the gang that was able to make it out that early Saturday morning.

I hope to see you all at the next San Diego Photography class next week.

The Williams' was by far one of the funnest events I have ever been hired to shoot. They rented out the Bahia Belle on Mission Bay and all of the guests were there to celebrate Williams' 8th wedding anniversary and their soon to be baby on the way. It was a beautiful night with just the right temperature outside so it was not too cold to be on the deck.

The guests in attendance were an absolute blast and extremely easy to work with and made for a fun and enjoyable night for everyone. I look forward to working with them in the near future.

Convention/Tradeshow Photography

This week was an eventful one and the reason being because The Right Light Photography was hired by Samsung International to assist them in the Public Relations for their tradeshow booth at the San Diego Convention Center. The convention was for CTIA - The Wireless Association. There were dozens of companies there to show off all their new wireless products in preparation for the 2009 holiday season. TRL photography was honored to be associated with the Samsung brand and the largest booth at the convention. Our main photographer/owner, Jason Kirby, worked directly with MWW Group, Samsungs PR agency, during the three day event. Samsung unveiled multiple new phones that are soon to be available and the press was all over it. The President of Samsung even made an appearance and shook the hands of many eager media people and reporters. It was also amazing to see the amount of independent bloggers there with the video cameras and other gadgets trying to be the first to post on the internet about the new product releases.

San Diego Convention Photography is a tricky service to offer that requires the photographer to be on their tows and be sure not to miss any key moments.

The Right Light Photography has been looking for ways to give back to the community and non-profits in any way that we can. We were lucky enough to be called by United Way to donate our services to photograph a very significant board meeting. UPS the shipping company donated over $200,000 to United Way of San Diego. It was a very excited time for United Way and they want to make sure to capture the handing over of the check ceremony. I met with Angela who was very nice and made sure I felt very comfortable and told me all about the different board members and how the contribute to United Way. I was very honored to have been at the event and serve the organization.

Kimberly Rule was one our winners from the Free Photo Shoot giveaway. Congratulations Kimmy! Instead of just doing the standard 2 hour photoshoot. She decided to spend an hour shooting some professional, executive like photos and then spend the rest of her time building a really simple website to maintain and build her personal brand. She wanted to do this because she understands the value of getting exposure online and branding yourself so future employers can see you and learn all the great stuff about you. It shows future employers that you go above and beyond. This is exactly what Kim Rule was going for.

Having personally known Kimmy, the photoshoot was a lot of fun and the pictures came out perfect for what she was trying to accomplish. I even made the nice banner you see above for her website.

James Brust is an aspiring actor and is looking to pick up acting as a side gig while he studies to earn his masters in Math from California State San Marcos. James was a great guy who was new to the headshots world, but he worked really well with camera and was a joy to work with. Getting to know James' hobbies and interest made for a great photo shoot that really brought out his personality and made for some great final images.

We started the photo shoot at San Diego State University with its amazing landscape to take advantage of for a beautiful background. From there we headed to the studio and took multiple different shots with props and different colored backgrounds to see how they would come out. The shoot was a huge success and I wish you the best of luck James with all of your future endeavors and let us know if you end up making it big in the acting world.

Check out a few of his photos from the shoot.
